Know Who You Are: Understanding Your Identity as God's Image — Pastor Christian Gisanura

In his teaching delivered on February 6, 2026, Pastor Christian Gisanura focused on the importance of knowing one’s true identity, reminding believers that they are spiritual beings—just as God Himself is Spirit.

As part of his ongoing February 2026 teaching series titled “Knowing Who You Are,” Pastor Gisanura continued guiding Christians toward a deeper understanding of their identity in Christ. This particular message centered on the sub-theme “You Are a Spirit,” emphasizing a profound truth about the believer’s true nature.

In previous teachings, Pastor Gisanura highlighted that humanity was created in the image of God, meaning that every believer represents God wherever they go.

Being made in God’s image is not merely a title; it is a responsibility to reflect Him through character, speech, and actions. One cannot claim to represent God while living carelessly, because everything a believer does either brings glory to God or dishonors Him.

Referencing John 4:24, Pastor Gisanura reminded believers that true worshipers worship God in spirit and in truth. Since God is Spirit, those who are created in His image are also spiritual beings. Wherever a believer goes, carrying the Spirit of God means being clothed with God’s glory—a glory that surrounds them both inwardly and outwardly.

He urged Christians to be mindful of where they go and how they conduct themselves, because they carry God’s beauty and glory. Those who fail to recognize this truth may behave like everyone else, assuming that what others say or do is also acceptable for them.

However, Pastor Gisanura emphasized that this is not the case. A person clothed in God’s glory sets boundaries and avoids places and behaviors that dishonor God—just as someone wearing clean white garments avoids sitting in the mud. Once God’s glory upon a person is defiled, it ceases to benefit them.

He further explained that being a spirit also means carrying God’s riches within. Drawing from the Apostle Paul’s words, he noted that although believers may appear poor, they enrich many.

The wisdom, thoughts, and words within a believer are treasures capable of healing the sick, restoring the lost, and comforting the brokenhearted. Every believer carries immense spiritual wealth within them.

Pastor Gisanura explained that from the day a person is created, God places a calling and gifts within them. However, these gifts may remain hidden until the right time and until one discovers and nurtures them.

He shared his personal testimony, recalling that as a child he spoke very little and struggled with fear. Yet after encountering Jesus, his gift of speaking and teaching the Word of God was awakened. Today, he boldly proclaims God’s Word without hesitation. The gift was always within him; the time to manifest it had simply not yet come.

He reaffirmed that God created us for good works prepared in advance, and when the Holy Spirit comes upon us, the hidden gifts and riches within awaken, enabling us to fulfill God’s purpose for our lives. Being a spirit means carrying God’s glory, wisdom, and excellence within—working spiritually and manifesting through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Pastor Gisanura also reminded believers that spirit connects with Spirit, which is why Christians must maintain fellowship with God through daily prayer and the study of His Word. This continuous relationship nurtures and strengthens the spirit within, awakening it and guiding believers through every step of life.

In his conclusion, Pastor Gisanura emphasized that reaching the glory God intends for a person is not a matter of luck or accidental blessing, but the result of recognizing and activating the gifts within. The world values results rather than people. Just as athletes are celebrated for the joy and results they bring, so too will one’s gifts create value and honor.

God elevates one’s gifts, aligns them with the needs of the world, and uses them to take the believer to greater heights.

In closing, Pastor Christian Gisanura reminded believers that this teaching is part of the February 2026 series “Knowing Who You Are,” which will continue with various sub-themes.

The central message of the day was clear and powerful: Know that you are a spirit, recognize the value of what God has placed within you, and allow the gifts inside you to rise and lead you into the purpose God has designed for your life.
