Overcoming Fear and Anxiety (Day 3) — Pastor Christian Gisanura

On April 29, 2026, Pastor Christian Gisanura continued his teaching series on overcoming fear and anxiety, focusing on the third day, with a strong emphasis on surrendering all burdens to God.

In this journey of overcoming fear and anxiety, Pastor Gisanura highlighted a powerful biblical truth: a person is not meant to carry their burdens alone, but to cast them upon God.

He referred to Psalm 55:23, presenting it as a message of deliverance from King David, a man who went through intense trials but learned where to place his burdens:
“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.”

He reminded the audience that David did not live an easy life. He faced many battles and deep challenges, including a rebellion led by his own son Absalom, who sought to overthrow him. Yet in all these situations, David came to understand that human strength was not enough—God was his true help.

Pastor Gisanura applied this to modern life, asking: “Why are you anxious about debts, school fees, and daily needs?” He emphasized that excessive worry weakens faith.
He said: “When you are overly anxious, your faith disappears. Anxiety destroys faith.”

He explained that the enemy often uses anxiety as a weapon to push people into despair, away from faith, and into destructive choices such as sin. When a person sins, they move further away from God, and their problems often worsen.

To counter this, he presented a simple yet powerful solution: draw closer to God and speak to Him about every burden. He said: “When your problems are many, tell God: ‘Help me, I am Your child.’”

He portrayed God as a faithful helper who has long experience in fighting human battles—One who has already fought and overcome every form of struggle, including poverty, hatred, and suffering.

He said: “You are experienced in fighting battles… you have been fighting Satan from the beginning… and I fight for you.”

He further noted that some people have wealth, comfort, and good health, yet still take their own lives because they lack a place to place their burdens. This shows that the issue is not what people have, but where they take their pain.

He pointed to the solution found in Jesus’ words in Matthew 11:28–30: “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

He explained that this invitation is for everyone without exception—whether struggling with sin, poverty, sickness, or emotional pain.

Pastor Gisanura also addressed the challenges of modern life, such as rising costs and economic pressure, noting that some things are beyond human control.

He said: “Prices keep rising… and there is nothing you can do about it. If you worry today about prices, tomorrow they will rise even more.”

He emphasized that anxiety does not solve problems, but turning to the One who understands and controls all things does.

He gave an illustration: “If your Samsung or iPhone has a problem, you take it to someone who understands it. Jesus is the One who created the world—He knows how to fix every problem.”

He also stressed that obedience to God is always for human benefit, not God’s. Using the example of a student, he explained that good performance benefits the student, not the teacher.

He further referred to the Israelites’ journey from Egypt to Canaan, noting that what should have taken 11 days took 40 years due to disobedience. He warned that disobedience can delay God’s purpose in a person’s life.

He said: “God may allow you to remain in your problems, but if you do not obey Him, you will suffer.”

He concluded by urging everyone to reflect and make a decision to surrender their burdens to God instead of carrying them alone.

He prayed: “Father, we thank You for calling us to bring our burdens to You.”

This third-day teaching reinforces a central message: overcoming fear and anxiety is not about human strength, but about choosing to surrender everything to God, trust Him fully, and obey His Word. When you do so, you are never alone—God Himself sustains you.
