Pastor Christian Gisanura said that many people pray for change, fast, give offerings, and do many other things hoping their lives will improve, yet they often see no real transformation.
He explained that the problem is not that God is unwilling to act, but rather that there are things people have not yet changed or prepared in order to receive the new things they desire in their lives.
He based his teaching on the words of Jesus found in Matthew 9:16-17: “No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse.
Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. Instead, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”
Pastor Gisanura emphasized that no one puts a new patch on an old garment or pours new wine into old wineskins. He explained that Jesus wanted to teach people that before new things can come, there must first be proper preparation for where those new things will fit.
He said that one of the biggest reasons change does not happen is because people refuse to change their mindset. According to him, many desire a better life while continuing to live with old habits and old ways of thinking.
He added that a person must first ask themselves why they want change and whether they are truly ready to remove the things in their lives that do not please God.
“You want God to do new things for you while you are still holding onto the things He hates,” he said.
He explained that some people desire new opportunities and blessings but are unwilling to let go of laziness, bad behavior, or destructive thoughts that prevent them from progressing.
Pastor Gisanura also said that many people have never discovered the true purpose for which they were created.
“Have you discovered why you are in this world?” he asked. He explained that God did not create anyone without a purpose, and that people should pray to understand what they were created to do so they can live lives filled with direction and meaning.
He further noted that many people have dreams and desires but fail to take action to achieve them. According to him, change requires commitment, hard work, and stopping the habit of constantly postponing things.
He encouraged people to overcome laziness and develop practical plans instead of remaining only with dreams and wishes.
As an example, he spoke about a woman who could afford to hire house help but intentionally chose to do many responsibilities herself while also teaching her five children how to work hard. He said the woman had decided to live a purposeful life and actively put it into practice.
Pastor Gisanura added that many people celebrate the end of a year without first evaluating themselves to see what they achieved and where they failed.
He said people should take time for self-examination, identify obstacles they faced, and make decisions on how to overcome them before celebrating another passing year.
He emphasized that real change does not come through words or wishes alone, but through transformed thinking, discovering one’s purpose, and building a clear vision for life.
He encouraged people to stop waiting for others to do for them what they are capable of doing themselves, but instead to intentionally work toward the change they desire.
As he concluded, Pastor Gisanura urged people to build purpose-driven lives, work diligently, and be willing to make sacrifices in order to achieve the transformation they want to see in their lives.
