SEE Muzik Reimagined One of Rwanda's Most Beloved Hymns "Mwami Wakomeretse" (Wounded Lord)

Rwandan gospel artist Patrick Cyuzuzo also known as SEE Muzik has reimagined one of Rwanda’s most beloved hymns, "Mwami Wakomeretse" (Wounded Lord), with a fresh and powerful sound.

Released on Friday, January 31, 2025, under RevHeart Collective, this version keeps the hymn’s deep meaning but presents it in a way that speaks to both young people and longtime hymn lovers.

For SEE Muzik, this song is deeply personal. The lyrics tell the story of Jesus’ suffering, betrayal, and sacrifice, reminding believers of His mercy and victory over death. While many young people see hymns as old-fashioned or boring, SEE Muzik took a different approach—keeping the song’s original emotional depth while giving it a fresh and modern feel.

“This hymn has always meant so much to me. The message of Jesus’ sacrifice is timeless, but I wanted to make it sound new again—something that today’s generation can connect with just as much as the older ones.” – SEE Muzik

With a unique production style, SEE Muzik and producer Junior Kaberuka created a sound that blends modern instrumentation, rich harmonies, and deep emotion. The music video, directed by Enock Zera and edited by Nassi Oliks, visually brings the song’s message to life, making it both moving and engaging for all audiences.

SEE Muzik’s "Mwami Wakomeretse" is now available on all streaming platforms and YouTube. This release bridges the gap between tradition and modern music, proving that hymns can still touch hearts and inspire people across all generations.
