The prosecution pointed out that among the people Jean Bosco Sengabo popularly known as Fatakumavuta who is being prosecuted for disturbing their peace is Medard Jorbert Ngabo popularly known as Meddy who is currently singing Gospel.
On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, the Kicukiro District Court in Kigali City began to follow up the case against ’Fatakumavuta’ after he was arrested on October 18, 2024.
The prosecution, which was given a statement, identified various people Fatakumavuta has been attacking at different times including Meddy based on his channel ’Fatakumavuta Clips’.
The prosecution said that on October 9, 2024, Fatakumavuta gave an interview, where he said that the way Meddy lived with his wife was kicking and punching, but God came to find their home and now they live well.
And he says that they did not get along well until they both received salvation. The prosecution said that Fatakumavuta insulted Meddy in a serious way, and that in that conversation he accused Meddy of not talking about the girl they lived with in the ’Ghettoo’ and being called ’a drug addict’.
On top of that, Fatakumavuta said that Meddy was the first man to admit that he was beaten by his wife.
In his defence, Fatakumavuta said he was arrested at around 8:00pm while leaving a talk show on Isibo FM. He said he was surprised that people didn’t like what he said about Meddy because it was entertainment. He said, “But all these people do not know this entertainment. They do not know where it comes from and where it goes to.”
He continued, "When Meddy was in Portland (giving testimony) he admitted that he regretted living with his wife Mimi before they were engaged before God and the law."
Meddy said he had a conflict with his wife. He said, "All that Meddy said, I analyzed it... I concluded my analysis by wondering how a young man from Kigali who lives in the United States spends a whole year with a girl without having sex."
He continues, "Meddy ends by thanking God that he came to live with this Mimi according to God’s law." He said that "Meddy said this in order to help others know that even after war, love still exists."
Fatakumavuta announced that what he said about Meddy was based on what he had said during his testimony in Portland
