On April 27, 2026, Pastor Christian Gisanura delivered a message of faith and encouragement in difficult times, as the cost of living continues to rise. Centering his teaching on the biblical call, “Do not let your hearts be troubled,” he reminded people where true strength and peace can be found.
At a time when many are facing economic pressure—rising prices of basic commodities, debts, unemployment, and the weight of daily responsibilities—Pastor Gisanura emphasized that although these challenges are real, God’s Word offers lasting peace and hope.
Drawing from John 14:1, where Jesus says, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me,” he explained that these words were first spoken to disciples who were filled with fear after learning that Jesus would soon leave them.
He noted that this situation mirrors what many people are experiencing today—uncertainty about the future, economic struggles, and anxiety about survival.
He pointed out that while rising fuel prices—for example, increasing from around 1,800 to nearly 3,000 francs per liter—have triggered broader increases in the cost of living, fear itself does not solve the problem. Instead, he urged people to turn to faith.
“The fear you carry will not change anything,” he said. “Seek the One who told you not to fear, and trust in Him.”
According to Pastor Gisanura, choosing faith over fear allows a person to remain strong and experience inner peace, even in difficult circumstances.
He further reminded believers that God has good plans for their lives, even when situations seem uncertain. Referring to Jeremiah 29:11, he said: “For I know the plans I have for you… plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
He explained that this means God is not surprised by the challenges people are going through. “God already knew what you would face, and He had already prepared a way through it,” he added.
Pastor Gisanura encouraged people to focus on their spiritual lives, rather than being overwhelmed by problems. He stressed that maintaining faith is essential, because losing it can lead to discouragement or even falling into wrong paths.
In his conclusion, he referred to John 14:27, where Jesus promises peace: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
He explained that the peace Jesus offers is different from what the world gives—it is not based on money or material things, but a deep, inner peace that remains even in hardship.
Pastor Gisanura urged people not to give space to fear or negative thoughts, but instead draw closer to God through prayer, asking for peace and strength to endure difficult times. He reminded them that true peace comes from God alone, and those who trust in Him will never be abandoned.
He closed his message with a heartfelt prayer: “Lord, help us, because this is not only happening in our country, but across the world. I pray for everyone—protect them from listening to the plans of the enemy. Guide us, lead us, visit us, Lord.”
He also prayed for leaders and families, saying: “Father, go before us and help us. In these times, give us peace and guard our hearts. I pray for our leaders, for parents, and for all people, that they may find God’s way.”
He ended by wishing everyone God’s peace: “May God give you inner peace in these difficult times. Shalom.”
