On February 10, 2026, Pastor Christian Gisanura continued a teaching series aimed at helping Christians clearly understand their position before God, emphasizing that anyone who has received Jesus Christ should no longer see themselves merely as a servant of God, but as His child.
He reflected on God’s original purpose in creating humanity, explaining that God created Adam in His own image and granted him authority to rule and govern the earth so that God’s will could be fulfilled.
Pastor Gisanura explained that Adam’s sin caused him to lose that authority, which Satan then unlawfully claimed—something that later led Satan to attempt to offer Jesus the kingdoms of the world.
However, God did not abandon His original plan. Instead, He sent Jesus Christ as the Son of Man, clothed in God’s image and glory, to redeem the world and restore humanity to its rightful position.
Drawing from John 1:9–12, Pastor Gisanura emphasized that those who believe in Jesus are given the right to become children of God, not merely people who work for Him.
He stated: “Before the fall, Adam belonged to God, but he was not a son in the same way believers in Christ are today. God therefore transformed His relationship with humanity—from one of workers earning rewards to one of children living in a family relationship with Him.”
He explained that the key difference between a servant and a son is that a servant works for wages, while a son has inheritance rights and serves joyfully, seeking to honor the family rather than earn payment.
Pastor Gisanura noted that many Christians struggle to grasp this truth and continue to approach God as an employer they must impress or bargain with. According to him, this mindset can lead some believers into manipulation or unhealthy behavior, chasing rewards, whereas a true child of God remains rooted in truth, knowing their identity cannot be taken away.
He reminded believers that a faithful son does not abandon the family when times are hard, but instead seeks to honor the father, unlike a hired worker who may leave the job when conditions become difficult.
Using the example of parent-child relationships, Pastor Gisanura explained that a child who grows up close to their parents develops a deep relationship and appreciation for them. In contrast, a child who grows up far away—such as in a boarding school—may struggle to fully value or connect deeply with their parents.
He likened this to the believer’s relationship with God, stressing that Christians are called to live closely with God as children, not to relate to Him as distant employees.
In closing, Pastor Christian Gisanura reminded believers that being a child of God means living with confidence in the future, since Jesus declared that all things are possible for those who believe.
He encouraged Christians to examine their faith honestly, abandon a reward-driven mentality, and fully embrace their identity as God’s children, serving Him in love, faith, and obedience.
