Kamikazi Dorcas Opens Up About Her Deep Sadness After Vestine's Wedding – Speaks Out Before Performing in Canada

The wedding of Vestine Ishimwe, who sings alongside her younger sister Dorcas Kamikazi in their gospel music duo Vestine and Dorcas, left Dorcas in deep emotional pain, something she still speaks about tearfully to this day.

Vestine married Idrissa Ouédraogo, a young man from Burkina Faso, on July 5, 2025, in a Christian ceremony held at Intare Conference Arena.

For Dorcas Kamikazi, who had always considered Vestine the pillar of her daily life, the wedding wasn’t just a typical event, it marked the beginning of a painful chapter.

Dorcas, who had just completed high school, recalls that the Monday after the wedding, she returned to school as though nothing had happened. She had a final exam scheduled for Wednesday. She said, “I felt like it hadn’t even happened. I couldn’t wrap my mind around it.”

But the emotional weight hit her later. After school ended and exams were over, the sadness began to overwhelm her. She experienced intense loneliness, loss of appetite, and even had to seek medical help, where she was prescribed medication to stimulate her appetite.

"The thought of not being able to call her at night because she was now married, it was too much," Dorcas said through tears. “We lived together, prayed together, she was the one I told everything. I felt like I had lost her.”

Having grown up side-by-side, Vestine had become like a second mother to her. Dorcas explained, “She’d check if I had eaten, gone to bed, and always encouraged me to take care of myself.” Whenever they were apart, the sadness would return, she’d cry at night and sometimes tried calling her sister at 3 AM. At one point, their mother even prayed over her, hoping it would calm her heart.

Eventually, Dorcas found some peace by going to live with her sister and her husband. “That’s when I was finally able to eat again, because she was the one cooking,” she said.

Though her life is slowly getting back on track, Kamikazi Dorcas still considers her sister’s wedding a moment that pulled her from the life she knew and forced her into a reality she wasn’t ready for.

They shared these personal reflections during a MIE Empire interview held on October 11, 2025, just before their upcoming performances in Canada.

As part of their efforts to expand their gospel message internationally, they announced a major concert tour titled “Yebo Concerts”, which will kick off in Vancouver, Canada at Sonrise Church Surrey on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

The tour is organized in partnership with their manager, Irénée Murindahabi, and will feature a special daycare service to help parents attend the concerts with peace of mind, knowing their children are well taken care of. High-quality photo and video production will be handled by Click Media.

Tickets are priced at $40 (approximately 58,000 Rwandan Francs). This marks the duo’s first-ever tour outside of Africa, a milestone in their music journey.
The name “Yebo” is derived from one of their most popular songs, which highlights the theme of surrendering to the guidance of Jesus.

Before leaving for Canada, Vestine and Dorcas will first hold a free concert for their Rwandan fans at Camp Kigali on Sunday, October 12, 2025.

They are set to perform beloved gospel hits such as: Emmanuel, Nahawe Ijambo, Ibuye, Isaha, Simpagarara, Iriba, Umutaka, and many more.

After the Vancouver show, the tour will continue in other regions...
