The Akirwa Subizwa Agaciro (ASA) organization, founded by Umulisa Adventine, has made it a mission to support street children by reconnecting them with their families. This holiday season, ASA spread joy by celebrating Christmas with these children and wishing them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for 2025.
Umulisa Adventine, who serves God at Zion Temple in Gatenga as an intercessor, is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ASA, where she helps street children. She expressed her gratitude to God for the progress made, with many of the children she supports having now reached University.
On Wednesday of the past week, ASA once again delighted the children in its care, offering them a special Christmas meal and various gifts to celebrate the season and usher in 2025. The event was organized by ASA in partnership with the Certa Foundation.
ASA is dedicated to helping these children and their families achieve a better quality of life. The organization works to reunite children who have been separated from their families, sends them back to school, and ensures they have health insurance every year.
ASA celebrates the success of its mission, noting that "some of the children it has supported have reached university," according to the Executive Director, Evangelist Mulisa Adventine.
Each year, ASA organizes holiday celebrations for the children it supports, bringing them joy and providing them with the opportunity to enjoy the holidays when they otherwise might have nowhere to go. Beyond the festivities, ASA also provides essentials such as food, haircuts, hygiene products, and more.
The organization takes the time to engage with the children, understanding why they ended up on the streets and working to reconnect them with their families. Mulisa shared, “We give the children haircuts once or twice a month, provide soap, and sit down with them to understand their stories. Most of the time, we succeed in reconnecting them with their families, and some even return home.”
Evangelist Mulisa Adventine also mentioned that she supports the children by enrolling them in school and monitoring their academic progress. She is proud to see that some of the children have reached university, while others are pursuing vocational studies.
She added: "Since some of the children have engaged in criminal activities like theft, we involve them in community work during public service days. They participate in these activities and also attend meetings after the work. The community has started to embrace and support them."
ASA also teaches the children to pray and provides guidance based on biblical teachings. "We show them how to pray for themselves so that God can free them from their current struggles. We encourage them to think about what they can do to create a better future for themselves, helping them transform their lives and become self-sufficient."
ASA inigisha aba bana gusenga ikabaha n’ubujyanama bushingiye kw’ijambo ry’Imana, "tukanabigisha nabo kwisengera kugira ngo Imana ibabohore kandi bave mu buzima barimo. Ikindi twababwiye ko bagomba gutekereza kugira içyo bakora cyababyarira inyungu bityo bakagenda bahindura ubuzima kandi bamenya banamenyera kwikorera.”
