Kigali, May 10, 2025 – The Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) has officially revoked the legal personality of Grace Room, an interdenominational ministry, citing its failure to comply with laws governing the operation of faith-based organizations.
According to a public notice issued by RGB, Grace Room Ministries founded by Pastor Julienne Kabanda, had been conducting prayer-related activities that did not align with its officially registered mission as an interdenominational ministry. This inconsistency with its stated objectives prompted the regulatory body to take action.
RGB emphasized that all organizations registered under its authority must operate strictly within the framework of their approved objectives and that any deviation from these objectives can result in administrative sanctions, including the revocation of legal status.
The Board also reminded all faith-based organizations of their responsibility to maintain integrity, adhere to the laws and regulations, and cooperate with oversight mechanisms. The goal, RGB said, is to ensure transparency, accountability, and lawful conduct within the sector.
RGB concluded by urging all religious organizations to respect the country’s laws and work in harmony with national values, while promoting peace and unity.
