Gospel artist Israel Mbonyi officially began his nationwide music tour at INES Ruhengeri University in Musanze on Saturday, 21 March 2026, in a concert that drew thousands of students and local residents.

The event, held at INES Ruhengeri, served as the opening performance of a series of concerts he plans to take across different parts of Rwanda, aiming to reach fans who rarely get the chance to attend his shows in Kigali.

The concert featured student choirs and church groups from the university, who set a worship atmosphere before the main performance.

When Mbonyi took the stage, he was warmly welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd of more than four thousand people. He performed some of his most popular gospel songs, including “Icyambu,” alongside his live band and backing vocalists, creating a powerful moment of worship and celebration.

The event marked the beginning of Mbonyi’s planned tour across Rwanda’s provinces, where he aims to continue spreading a message of worship, hope, and unity through music

Students described the concert as more than entertainment, saying it helped them feel welcomed into university life and provided a moment of spiritual encouragement and relaxation.
