All of us we need to see good people around us in our families, churches and communities and nations and all the world. Yes it is relevant and more important to surrounded with good people in all aspects of our lives everyday.
But God wants us to the agents of positive changes and transformations in our societies and every change started by changing people’s minds then the changes will proceed in all directions of life( marriage, education, economy, faith, ministry and so on).
The following are the steps to change anyone without manipulation, stress or Judgement:
1. Lead by Your Example(Be a role model):
People are often changed by what they see in our lives. So inspire others through your own life and experiences.
“Set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” 1Timothy 4:12
And 2 Corinthians3:2-3
When someone sees your honesty, patience, and faith in God, they may desire to live the same way as yourself through inspirations.
2. Show Love and Kindness:
Love softens hearts and opens people to change, do not show them anger and intimidation.
Ephesians 4:32: “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
When you treat someone with kindness and forgiveness, it can help them realize their mistakes and grow
3. Speak the Truth with Gentleness:
Correction should be done with humility and respect, not anger.
Ephesians 4:15 “But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ”
“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Proverbs 15:1
Gentle words help people listen and change.
4. Pray for People you want to Change:
Prayer invites God to work in the person’s heart.
James5:16: “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
Prayer is very powerful weapon to use for any change you need, it engages God in your matters. Pray that God guides them and gives them wisdom to change.
5. Be Patient with Their Growth:
Change does not happen immediately. It often takes time. Gradually you can start seeing changes in the life of somebody:
Galatians6:9: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
Continue doing good even if change is slow, don’t be discouraged by slowness of someone who humble himself to seek the change. Even those who have hardened their hearts with time, patience and prayers, they are the candidates of change.
6. Encourage Them to believe and Follow Christ:
The greatest change comes when a person truly believes and follows Jesus. Not only depends on his own performances.
2 Corinthians 5:17: “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here.”
When someone drives himself closer to Christ, his/ her character changes accordingly.
You cannot force someone to become like you, but you can influence them through Christ-like living.
May God gives you to become and agent of changes you need in your family, church, community, nation and world.
Thank you.
