Eric Niyonkuru, a passionate worship minister, has once again surrendered to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, releasing a deeply spiritual worship song titled “Wahozeho” , a Kinyarwanda phrase meaning “You Have Always Existed”.
The track, recorded in collaboration with his wife, draws heavily from Scripture and personal testimony, echoing God’s eternal nature and enduring faithfulness.
The inspiration for Wahozeho stems from Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever”, and Psalm 90:17, which declares, “May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us, yes, establish the work of our hands.”
These verses anchor the song’s message: that God’s presence and power are constant, and His glory is everlasting.
“Wahozeho Mana we, ubwiza bwawe buzahoraho iteka”, “You have always existed, O God, and your glory shall endure forever.”
These lyrics carry the heartbeat of the song, reaffirming the couple’s testimony and inviting believers to place their trust in the unchanging nature of God.
Speaking about the song’s message, Eric shares: “We ask God to strengthen our hands, because He is our greatest provider. The enemy doesn’t attack where there’s nothing of value, he seeks to steal our testimony and cause spiritual instability.”
Eric further emphasizes that true followers of Christ will lack nothing because Christ Himself is their Redeemer, Guide, and Provider, the same yesterday, today, and forever.
The worship leader explains that the song also stems from reflecting on how God remained faithful to the ancestors of faith and continues to do so for this generation. It became a heartfelt plea for God to “strengthen the hands of those working in His vineyard.”
More than just a worship anthem, Wahozeho is a celebration of God’s reliability and protection, a theme Eric and his wife have personally experienced and now joyfully share with many others. The message resonates with their listeners, testifying that God is indeed trustworthy and fulfills His promises.
Eric finds daily encouragement in Psalm 46:1-2, which proclaims, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” He says this verse fuels his joy and motivation in this new chapter of his life, one where long-held dreams of worship ministry are now becoming reality.
Though Eric Niyonkuru has only been active in music for one year, he has already released four songs that will be part of his debut album. With more projects in the pipeline, he promises to unveil additional songs before the year ends.
“These are dreams that I once only prayed about,” Eric says, “and now I’m living them, singing and worshiping the God who has always been.”
