In a night filled with joy, colorful lighting, and powerful faith-based messages, The Way of Hope Choir wrote a fresh page in the history of gospel music in Rwanda.
This took place during their concert titled “Road to Impact”, held at the Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village, commonly known as Camp Kigali, on the evening of Sunday, October 26, 2025.
The much-anticipated concert was organized in partnership with Authentic Events, and coincided with the choir’s 14th anniversary of serving in ministry.
From the meticulously prepared stage design to the energy that filled the venue, the spirit of worship was unmistakable.
The Way of Hope Choir performed alongside Ambassadors of Christ Choir, one of Rwanda’s most respected gospel groups with a rich legacy, and Barret Mapunga, a celebrated Tanzanian worship minister known for songs including Nitajenga, Neema, Sina Mashaka, and The Goodness of God.
Mapunga, admired for his ability to combine lyrical depth with worship emotion, deeply moved the audience at Camp Kigali, many left saying it was “an evening of encountering God.”
Since 1995, Ambassadors of Christ Choir has been a cornerstone of gospel music in Rwanda and the region. Formed after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, the choir played a significant role in bringing comfort and spiritual healing through music.
For 14 years, The Way of Hope Choir, based at Remera Seventh-day Adventist Church, has touched many hearts in Rwanda and beyond. They continue to stand out through their vocal artistry, lyrical richness, and strong faith-driven message.
Their songs such as Mukiza Ndaje, Urera Urera, Nitajenga ft. Barret, Malaika Mulinzi, Ndamucungura, Sarungano, Amarembo, Mpagaze ku Nkengezo, Ngwino Ubane Natwe, Umwami ni We Udutumira, Umutwaro, Umukiza Aranyobora, Mwami Ukomeye, Muri We, Nimuhumure, Agafu, My God Is Good, Wishidikanya and others have been praised by many, some referring to them as “vocal Bible lessons.”
The choir has become a beacon of hope and a source of spiritual encouragement in a world struggling with trauma and uncertainty.
The President of The Way of Hope Choir, Ishimwe Josue, told InyaRwanda they were delighted by how successfully the event unfolded: “From the singing, to the general organization and the sound quality, everything was excellent. We thank Authentic Events for helping make this happen. We truly felt God among us.”
He added: “In our 14-year journey, we have done many concerts but this one was unique. We clearly see how God is lifting His ministry to greater heights. We began in a small church, now we bring thousands together at Camp Kigali.”
At the end of the event, the choir expressed appreciation to their supporters and partners by presenting Certificates of Honor to Barret Mapunga, Authentic Events, Pastor Ruhangara, Remera SDA Church, and Ambassadors of Christ Choir.
Mapunga, whose music centers on grace, redemption, and spiritual renewal, came to Rwanda as a messenger of faith. His songs like Kaa Nami, Ahadi, and Just for Me continue to gain popularity on platforms such as Boomplay, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.
His ministry has become a strong and fresh voice in the gospel mission of East Africa.
As the music faded and lights dimmed, hearts remained filled with praise. Those who attended left with a silent message: Through music, new life is possible, and the Gospel of Jesus always reaches the hearts that need it.
