The President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, announced that Rwanda is doing everything possible to deal with the Marburg Epidemic that has attacked.
President Paul Kagame thanked all the people who met in Kigali who participated in the Conference on of African Continental Free Trade Area, especially those who came to Rwanda at a time when it is facing the Marburg Epidemic, only assuring that the country is doing its best to succeed.
More than 1,200 people gathered at the Kigali Convention Center for the Second Meeting of the Economic Forum aimed at accelerating the implementation of the African Common Market (AfCFTA Business Forum), known as Biashara Afrika.
President Paul Kagame was the one who officially launched this meeting of the forum which is held for the second time since it was launched for the first time in Cape Town in South Africa in April 2023.
He thanked the participants for their participation while the country is facing the Marburg Epidemic. He said "But I want to thank you all for being here, I want to assure you that Rwanda is doing everything we can to fight this virus, but all our efforts would not be productive without the help given to us by Africa CDC and other partners."
On September 27, 2024, the first patients appeared in Rwanda. Currently, efforts are being made to contain the outbreak, including immunizing those at risk of infection.
The information released by Ministry of Health on October 8, 2024, shows that there are 13 people who have died from this epidemic. There are 14 people who have recovered, while there are 58 people who have been infected.
This three-day conference is scheduled to be held in the Kigali City on October 9-11, 2024.
It was attended by leaders in the public and private sector, representatives of commercial companies and investors, business experts, youth and women entrepreneurs.
The AFCFTA is the largest in the world and unites the 54 countries of the African Union and other various economic organizations. So far, 47 countries have ratified the agreement, while Rwanda is among the first seven countries that have started doing business with each other.
Rwanda has set itself the goal of achieving the AFCFTA, which will accelerate development so that exports will increase from $3.5 billion to $7.3 billion.
