The Adventist University of Central Africa (AUCA), the Seventh-day Adventist University in Central Africa, has awarded degrees to more than 500 students who have completed the Second and Third Degrees of the University.
It is an event that took place for the 30th time, this Sunday, November 10, 2024, taking place in Masoro, Kigali, at the AUCA University Headquarters, where about 576 people, including Rwandans and those from 12 other African countries, completed their studies they were the ones who received the degree.
465 of them graduated with a bachelor’s degree in theology (Biblical Science), Education, Technology, Nursing, Finance, Technology, etc, while another 111 graduated in six different departments of a Master’s degree.
Director General of AUCA, Prof. Eustace Penniecook Saywers said that the university is celebrating a 40-year journey that has coincided with the 30th graduation in Rwanda, years that include the great contribution AUCA graduates have made to the wider community.
He said: "In the last 30 years, AUCA has not only put public and private sector workers in the labor market in Rwanda. It also went beyond the borders of the country, some of them are working in different institutions in the East African Region.”
The Chairman of the Board of AUCA and the Leader of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Rwanda, Dr. Hesron Byiringiro reminded the graduates that if they misuse the knowledge they have, they will not improve themselves and the wider society they are going to work for.
The Secretary of State in the Ministry of Education, Irere Claudette, said that AUCA is one of the universities operating in Rwanda that stands well in terms of the quality of education it provides to its students. “They are in a good position. Most people finish their studies here become good labors at the market. I would recommend this university to continue in other departments as well."
He continued: “More than 70% of the educational institutions we have are religious. When their actions go beyond preaching the Gospel and go to change people’s lives, they benefit the country, and the government sees them as partners. AUCA is one of the Seventh-day Adventist organizations and does not mean that all students belong to that religion. That is what we support because it gives everyone an opportunity to develop and develop the country."
