Jesus Is Our Savior: Embracing the Gift of a New Life in Christ - Pastor Christian Gisanura

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." - 2 Corinthians 5:17

This Scripture stands as one of the greatest reminders on earth that there is always hope—a fresh start is still possible. It assures us that no matter how many wrongs we have committed in life, no matter their weight or depth, they can be forgiven and forgotten by God when we choose to enter into Christ Jesus.

The laws of heaven and earth both speak of punishment for sin, but we must not forget that punishment is not the only consequence—there are lasting effects, or consequences, beyond punishment itself.

In this earthly life, sin can bring consequences upon our finances, bodies, reputations, families—our entire daily existence. But beyond this visible world, in the realm of the spirit, sin leads to spiritual death, destruction, and often to unholy covenants with demonic forces that bring unending struggles—even generational curses that can affect your descendants.

The painful truth is that it’s nearly impossible to live in this body without sinning. We were born with a sinful nature—stronger than our own willpower. But praise be to God, because He has made a way—a second chance. Our Father in Heaven has prepared a refuge for us, and that refuge is found in Christ Jesus.

Whenever you surrender and allow Jesus to dwell in you, and you in Him, you become one with Him—and He transforms you into a new creation. The old you, full of the things that were destined to destroy you, is erased before God.

Even though the consequences of your past may still linger—earthly laws and penalties may still follow you—in the eyes of God, you are justified and made clean. The difference is that earthly punishment and consequences have an end. They are bound to this temporal life.

But when judgment comes from God, you can feel it in this life—and it follows you even after death. However, when God removes His judgment and forgives you, you experience it tangibly here on earth. You are rewarded as one who has never sinned, because in His eyes, you are brand new, without a single stain of sin.

Do you remember the two thieves on the cross beside Jesus? One was granted the opportunity to become new—just five minutes before his death. He entered paradise that very day. A man under a death sentence was made righteous in Christ. The other thief mocked Jesus, trying to test Him—and he perished.

My friend, if you’ve already become a new creation, guard that gift—hold it with reverence. But if you haven’t yet entered into Christ, I urge you: think deeply. You don’t know the day or the hour when your life on this earth will end. Your Savior Jesus is still waiting for you—not only to walk with you in this life, but to be with you in the life to come.

You will not dwell with Him after death if you have never walked with Him in life.
He is still waiting for you.

Shalom,
Pastor Christian Gisanura
