After receiving a Doctorate Degree in Public Policy and Management, the President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, addressed the audience.
President Kagame arrived in Seoul in South Korea, on the Sunday 02 June 2024, where he participated in the meeting known as the Korea-Africa Summit, which brought together the Heads of State and Government of Africa, as well as the Administration of South Korea.
As planned, President Paul Kagame, who participated in this meeting, visited Yonsei University, where he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Public Policy and Management.
After receiving it, President Kagame acceptance speech as he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Public Administration by Yonsei University was this:
“Achieving real prosperity requires mindsets of truth-seeking, critical thinking, and creativity. A country also needs to secure the freedom to set its own path, despite the pressures and hypocrisies from the international system, especial for small and medium-sized nations.”
“We decided to focus on installing these virtues in our young people, as a strategy for national transformation. We needed to confront the truth of our history, above all, and ensure that the memory of our tragic past was not forgotten.” He added.
It is a meeting led by the President of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, and President El Ghazouanu of Mauritania who is also the head of the Council of Heads of State of the African Union.
In this meeting, which was held for the first time, it was also attended by the leaders of South Korea and African countries, where it was planned that they will discuss the development of cooperation between this country and the African continent.
In this meeting, the Heads of State, the leaders of the higher institutions, the leaders of the Business Centers and the economic experts, discussed various topics, such as industrial development, business expansion, food security, the level of mining, as well as addressing the effects of climate change.
The theme of the conference was “The Future We Make Together: Shared Growth, Sustainability, and Solidarity.”
