There are brave women in the Bible, and everyone who reads it should know the important lessons from them even if he is a man, at any age.
All these women walked with God and had a lot of meaning in Christian life. They are Sarah, Hagar, Hannah, Ruth, Rahab, Esther and the woman who had been bleeding for 12 years. There are many others mentioned in the Bible, but Paradise focuses on these. Others you know you should share them in the comments section.
Sarah: Before God, years are numbers. Nothing is too had for God.
If you’ve read the Bible or been to church, you may have heard the name Sarah. She was Abraham’s wife, but she had no offspring. God promised her that she will give birth to a son, but she laughed because she had reached the age of retirement, and she had no offspring.
Miraculously, the 90-year-old woman gave birth to a child, and she is the descendant of all the Israelites, and she is the ancestor of all the Arabs.
Genesis 17:17
Hagar: Wherever you are, God is watching over you.
This woman was the servant of Sarah and Abraham. Since Sarah was barren, Abraham had to sleep with Hagar so that his name would live on. However, Hagar began to misbehave with Sarah and was kicked out.
When she arrived in the desert, her son was dying of thirst, and she put him aside and ran away from him, so that she would not see him die, and not die in front of her. In that place she thought no one could see her, but God did see her, and even helped her get water for the child.
Genesis 21:14-19
Hannah: God answers prayers.
Hannah was Elkanah’s second wife. Another wife Peninnah, always scolded her because she was barren, which made Hannah depressed. She prayed to God from the heart, until the priest Eli accused her of drunkenness.
Soon God heard her prayer and gave birth to a son and named him Samuel. Samuel was sent by God to become a Nazirite and he became the first judge of Israel.
1 Samuel 1
Ruth: Where you came from has no meaning in God’s plan. If God doesn’t say it’s over, it’s not over yet.
Ruth, widowed, refused to leave her mother-in-law, who was also a widow. She left Moab and followed her mother-in-law Naomi wherever she went. Fortunately, this widow married a rich man in Israel named Boaz, and their family was where Jesus was born.
Read in Ruth 4:10.
Rahab: Your past is nothing before God.
This woman is known to many people who have read the Bible. She was a prostitute in the city of Jericho where she lived. That was a sin that God hates, but after hiding the spies of Israel, God forgave her for what she did before, she became a precious woman, and saved her family members from the destruction of Jericho.
Joshua 6:25.
Esther: Kindness turns away anger, and God changes nobody to anybody.
Esther was from a hated tribe, she was a child without a single parent, from the poor, grew up and was raised by her relative Mordecai, but God treated her well and she became the queen of a country that was a giant.
Haman, who wanted to kill her tribe members, was the king’s second-in-command, and was hanged. Mordecai, who was a poor man, was also given a great position and became the king’s second in command.
You read it all over the book of Esther.
A woman who has been bleeding for 12 years: Where human strength ends, God’s begins.
For 12 years in treatment finding the best doctors who could heal her from over bleeding, it didn’t work until she reached at the level of waiting for death. The faith she had led her to believe that touching the nets of Jesus would save her.
The one who spent 12 years being treated by the best doctors but was not cured, was cured in just one second, thanks to touching only on clothes!
Matthew 9:20
There are a lot to learn from these women. There are other important women mentioned in the Bible such as Mary who gave birth to Jesus, Tabitha (Dorcas), Abigail, Rebekah, Rachel, Mary and Martha and others you can learn a lot from them.
