On Sunday, August 11, 2024, the Senior Pastor of the Authentic Word Ministries/Zion Temple Celebration Center, Apostle Dr. Paul Gitwaza, said that someone tried to kill him but God prevented him, and another time someone brought a weapon to the temple but it ended in an accident that made him (the one who brought a weapon) to go to the hospital.
He repeated this at the end of the 25th Africa Haguruka Gathering, which was also the church’s 25th anniversary. Apostle Gitwaza took the time to thank God for continuing to serve him and thanked those who started this church in 1999, not leaving out others who have joined it in different times.
Dr. Paul Gitwaza said that in different and difficult times he has survived, revealing that there are those who tried to kill him. He said, "I told him that this is my head, shot, he screamed a lot, he didn’t shoot me and the gun fallen down in his legs, and my driver came running.”
This servant of God continued to say: "After a few days, a young lady came, who had been saved, knelt down, and told me that the person who tried to kill me is her x-boyfriend. After the lady heard the Word of God she become saved, and left all sins including her relationship with that man. After knowing that the lady left him because of Gitwaza’s teachings, he said that he will kill Gitwaza.” Tha’s what he was trying.
Dr. Gitwaza says that he had jumped to death more than once because the other day someone tried to bring weapons to the church but on the way he had an accident and ended up going to the hospital. He praises God for continuing to protect him and the church. "When I look at 25 years, I have spoken to death and chased it away," he said.
This Senior Pastor of Zion Temple says that throughout this period of 25 years, God has continued to be faithful. In this gathering, Dr. Paul Gitwaza appointed Felix Gakunde, the leader of the Zion Temple church in Rubavu District, a church he has been in for 20 years, and made him Bishop.
The Zion Temple Celebration Center was started on July 11, 1999, by Apostle Dr Paul Gitwaza. It was after one year, in 2000, that the Africa Haguruka Gathering started, after another gathering which aimed at healing the wounds and helping Rwandans to have reconciliation called ’Heal our Nation.’
He repeated how he jumped the death more than once at the end of the 25th Africa Haguruka Gathering, which was also the church’s 25th anniversary.
