Over 42,000 Attend 2025 International Jehovah's Witnesses Convention in Kigali

Kigali – From August 8 to 10, 2025, Amahoro Stadium warmly hosted participants of the International Jehovah’s Witnesses Convention under the theme “Pure Worship.”

On the second day of the event, attendance peaked at 42,530 people, including participants from across Rwanda and many other parts of the world.

This historic convention, the first of its kind in Rwanda, welcomed more than 3,000 international delegates from 20 countries in the Americas, Europe, and Africa. Visitors also took part in sightseeing activities across Kigali and other scenic destinations in the country, enjoying Rwanda’s landscapes, cultural sites, and warm hospitality.

Main focus: Serving God in a way He approves

In his remarks, François Regis Migambi, spokesperson for Jehovah’s Witnesses in Rwanda, emphasized the importance of understanding and serving God in the way He approves, especially in today’s troubled world.

He stated: “In this world full of problems, serving God in a way that He approves is an essential factor that helps us face challenges with the hope of a better future. Many people have a strong desire to worship God in a way that pleases Him and to strengthen their faith. This convention will show how serving God in a way He approves can help us in our daily lives and give us hope for the future.”

The program was presented in four languages: Kinyarwanda, English, French, and Rwandan Sign Language, ensuring that all attendees could follow along.

Highlights of the three-day program

The convention features Bible-based talks, video dramas, personal experiences of faith, and songs of praise.

On the first day, attendees watched part two of the video series “The Good News According to Jesus”, depicting Jesus’ baptism, the calling of his first disciples, and his victory over Satan’s temptations.

Saturday included a special session showing how the start of Jesus’ ministry fulfilled ancient Bible prophecies, as well as a baptism ceremony for many.

Today, Sunday, the program continues with the public talk “Do You Know the God You Worship?”, which explores why it is vital to base faith on truth and how to find that truth. The final sessions will conclude later this afternoon.

Experiences from attendees

One international delegate, who requested anonymity for security reasons, shared:
“The people of Rwanda made us feel at home. There is warmth and love everywhere. This convention has strengthened me spiritually, and I will go home with renewed energy to serve God.”

Another delegate from Brazil, part of a group of 140 visitors, said he would always remember the welcome he received: “I had heard Rwanda was a beautiful country, but visiting and seeing how people here treat guests exceeded all my expectations.”

Cultural exchange and inclusion

The convention also stands out for its cultural exchange and acts of hospitality. Over 4,000 local Witnesses volunteered to host and assist visiting delegates. Representatives from Brazil, Burundi, and other countries conveyed greetings on behalf of their congregations.

Special arrangements were made for attendees with hearing impairments, with 341 people following the program in Rwandan Sign Language.

Lasting impact

Attendees say they are leaving with a renewed appreciation for serving God in spirit and truth, following Jesus’ example in everyday life, and cultivating a heart of generosity and kindness. Many expressed their determination to continue preaching and strengthening unity among believers worldwide.

The convention will wrap up later this afternoon with a special new song and a heartfelt closing prayer. Participants are eager to take home the lessons learned and the spiritual encouragement they have received during this historic event.
