The story of Dusenge Clenia’s birth has resurfaced after she appeared in a music video from Bruce Melodie’s album. Known as "Madederi" in Rwandan cinema, she has also been linked romantically to Israel Mbonyi, a renowned gospel artist in Rwanda.
Early Life and Miraculous Birth
Madederi was born in Gasabo District, Rusororo Sector, to Rudahushwa Alphonse and Musindikazi Leonille. She was the third-born in a family of seven children, though one sibling passed away, leaving four boys and two girls.
Her birth was miraculous and challenging. Her mother endured three days of labor, prompting prayers as it seemed she might not survive. Eventually, she was born, but unlike most babies, she didn’t cry at first. It took vigorous efforts to make her cry.
Weighing 5.5 kg at birth, her large size contributed to the difficult delivery. Following fervent prayers led by Drocella, a church elder, her parents decided to name her Dusenge Clenia instead of the initially planned name, Kirabo Clenia.
Journey to Success
Madederi showed a strong work ethic from a young age. During her fourth year in secondary school, her friend Betty Uwitonze invited her to join her for construction work at a convent hotel under construction. Though her mother initially opposed the idea, she managed to secure the job. Interestingly, instead of working as a laborer, she was assigned an office role, managing payroll and employee attendance.
With her earnings, she started a mobile money business and invested in small livestock farming. This business sustained her from 2013 to 2016, the year she completed secondary school. Later, she found employment at a gas station, earning RWF 50,000 monthly.
Breakthrough in Film
Madederi had previously crossed paths with Niyitegeka Gratien, popularly known as Papa Sava, Seburikoko, and Sekaganda. While she expressed her desire to act in his films, three years passed without an opportunity. Finally, Gratien invited her to join the cast of Papa Sava, marking her debut in cinema.
Since then, she has starred in several Rwandan films, including Icyaremwe Gishya, where she plays a Christian determined to convert others to the faith.
Links to Israel Mbonyi
Madederi has often been associated with Israel Mbonyi, a prominent gospel artist known for hit songs like Nina Siri and Nita Amini. Their rumored relationship has garnered significant attention, further boosting her profile in the entertainment industry.
Madederi’s story reflects resilience, faith, and determination, making her a celebrated figure in Rwanda’s film and entertainment landscape.
