This Sunday, the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda, will host a highly anticipated gospel concert, drawing music lovers from across East Africa. The event, featuring South Africa’s legendary Joyous Celebration, Rwandan stars Gentil Misigaro and Alarm Ministries, promises an unforgettable night of worship, praise, and unity.

Gospel music lovers from Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, and the Democratic Republic of Congo are expected to fill the arena, marking the return of live gospel music events after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Joyous Celebration’s Emotional Debut in Rwanda
Joyous Celebration, a South African gospel group with a legacy spanning over three decades, is making its first appearance in Rwanda.

During a press conference, the group expressed their excitement about performing in Kigali and shared how deeply moved they were by the country’s transformation over the last 30 years. The members also visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where they paid tribute to Rwanda’s resilience and healing, with one group member recalling a powerful story of forgiveness from a genocide survivor.

“We are so grateful for the chance to come to Rwanda,” said one of the members. “It’s been amazing to see how the country has healed, and we’ve been inspired by the spirit of forgiveness and unity here.”

Alarm Ministries Joins Forces with Joyous Celebration
Alarm Ministries, one of Rwanda’s leading gospel bands, will share the stage with Joyous Celebration, a collaboration that fans have long awaited. Alarm Ministries had initially tried to bring Joyous Celebration to Rwanda in 2019, but the pandemic put plans on hold. Now, with the event finally happening, both groups are excited to join forces for an unforgettable night of worship.

Gentil Misigaro’s Long-Awaited Return

Gentil Misigaro, a beloved Rwandan gospel artist, is also making his return to the stage after five years. Misigaro, who has been focusing on family and other projects, will debut new songs during the concert. He also revealed plans to release a new album in February 2025, marking his official return to music after a long hiatus. Fans are eagerly anticipating his new work.

“I’ve missed performing in Rwanda, and I’m so excited to share my new music with my fans here,” Misigaro said. “I believe that this concert is going to be an incredible moment for everyone, and we’ll all feel God’s presence in a powerful way.”

A Unique Opportunity for Fans

In addition to the star-studded lineup, fans attending the concert will have a rare opportunity to join Joyous Celebration on stage. One lucky fan, familiar with the group’s music, will be chosen to perform alongside the choir, furthering the connection between the artists and their audience.

A Tanzanian Attendee Shares His Excitement

Among the many attendees at the concert is a Tanzanian gospel music fan who shared his excitement with Paradise.rw. "I’ve been a huge fan of Joyous Celebration for years, and when I heard they were coming to Rwanda, I knew I couldn’t miss it,” he said. “Their music speaks to my heart, and I believe this event will be a transformative experience for me.”

He also compared the gospel music scenes in Tanzania and Rwanda, noting the passion he’s seen in both countries. “Tanzania has a vibrant gospel community, but there’s something really special about the way Rwandans embrace gospel music. The worship culture here is deep, and I’m really looking forward to feeling that connection.”

“I’m hoping to leave this concert more spiritually renewed,” he continued. “Events like this really help strengthen our faith, and I’m excited to be part of this historic night."
