Comfort for Rwanda and the Great Lakes Region in times of sanctions and war: God’s word is our stronghold

Comfort for Rwanda and the Great Lakes Region in times of sanctions and war: God's word is our stronghold

In times of distress and trials, as Rwanda continues to face challenges from foreign nations and as war ravages the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Paradise has prepared a message of comfort.

The ongoing conflict has claimed many lives, and insecurity in the Great Lakes Region has left many in fear and uncertainty about what the future holds. But what does God say in times like these? His word reminds us that no trial can surpass His will and that those who trust in Him will never be shaken.

God is the sovereign ruler of the earth
In Daniel 2:21, the Bible says:
"He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning."

There is no need to fear or lose hope because God has the power to change the plans of men. These times of war and sanctions do not mean that God has abandoned us; instead, they may be a way of showing that He alone governs the nations.

No war is greater than God’s power
When nations fight, it may seem as though world affairs are in the hands of political leaders. However, the Bible teaches us that God is the ultimate ruler over all events on earth. Psalm 46:9 declares:
"He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire."

This verse assures us that even when turmoil arises, God has the power to bring peace and stability. Rwandans and the people of the Great Lakes Region should continue trusting that the Lord is a righteous judge who will establish lasting peace.

Man’s sanctions cannot hinder God’s plan
When a country faces sanctions and economic hardships, it is easy to feel hopeless and question if there will ever be light at the end of the tunnel. However, in Genesis 50:20, Joseph spoke words of encouragement to his brothers, saying:
"You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives."

If the world imposes difficult decisions on Rwanda or other nations in the region, it does not mean that God has left us. Instead, it is an opportunity to trust that He has a greater plan and is turning challenges into blessings.

God’s peace surpasses all troubles
Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us not to be anxious but to bring everything before God in prayer:
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Difficult times should not weaken our faith or discourage us from praying. Instead, they should draw us closer to God, for He is the true source of peace beyond what the world can offer.

What we should do as believers
1. Pray without ceasing – God calls us to pray for our nation, our leaders, and all nations. (1 Timothy 2:1-2)
2. Continue trusting without fear – Nothing is beyond God’s control. Let us demonstrate unwavering faith that He holds everything in His hands.

3. Keep doing good – Even in hard times, God commands us to maintain a kind heart, help the needy, and be a shining example. (Galatians 6:9)
4. Promote peace and avoid hateful speech – In times of war and conflict, we should strive to be peacemakers rather than divisive voices. (Matthew 5:9)

A message of comfort for Rwanda and the Great Lakes Region
Even though sanctions may cause economic struggles and wars may continue to disrupt security, God has not forsaken His people. He reminds us that when we put our trust in Him, He will give us the strength to persevere.

Isaiah 41:10 says:
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

This is a time to trust and seek God because human decisions cannot stop God’s divine plan.

Those who trust in the Lord will never be put to shame.
