The Watoto Children’s Choir from Kampala, the one of the first greatest children’s choirs in Africa, has arrived in Kigali on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, and it came for performing.
Watoto Childen’s Choir, popular in Kampala/Uganda and EAC, came to Rwanda for a concert called "Chosen by Him for Him" which will be held on 27/07/2024 at the Christian Life Assembly (CLA) in Nyarutarama. Doors will be open at 17:00 of the evening.
Abdul Rukundo, one of the organizers of this much-awaited concert, said that in this concert Watoto Children’s Choir of Uganda will be together with Watoto Children’s Choir of CLA Nyarutarama. Entrance will be free to all.
Watoto Children’s Choir Uganda was last in Rwanda 6 years ago in a concert that took place on 22/12/2018 in Camp Kigali. It was a concert that touched the hearts of the participants including Aline Gahongayire who announced that she will give 100 dollars to these children every year.
Watoto Children’s Choir Uganda is considered to be the first greatest children’s choir in Africa. It consists of orphans who have lost one or all of their parents to AIDS and those killed in war. Among the singers of this choir are children from the streets.
All its members worship in Watoto Church, one of the most powerful churches in Uganda. Watoto Children’s choir is popular for various songs including "Be Exalted" which has been viewed over 11 million times on YouTube, "Beat of Your Love", "Webale" and others.
