The Covenant of Spiritual Warfare Soldiers — Pastor Christian Gisanura

On Friday, March 6, 2026, Pastor Christian Gisanura spoke about the covenant of soldiers engaged in spiritual warfare.

Human life is not limited only to what the eyes can see or to physical things.

There is a spiritual realm that plays a significant role in our daily lives. That is why the Bible teaches that many of the battles we face originate in the spiritual realm.

A person who is not spiritually minded cannot fully understand how these battles are fought or how to overcome them. A child of God has the responsibility to be diligent in spiritual warfare, because being part of God’s Kingdom means being part of His army.

In ancient times of kingdoms and kings, princes were trained to fight. They were expected to become strong warriors capable of defending their kingdom. In the same way, a child of God is also a prince in the Kingdom of God and is expected to know how to fight spiritual battles.

These battles are not fought with human strength or human wisdom, but with power that comes from God. That is why in spiritual warfare we often see the hand of God helping us overcome what we cannot defeat on our own.

There are many things in life that can discourage us or seem stronger than us. There are problems, trials, and even people who may oppose us. However, a child of God has strong confidence because they are with the King of battles, Christ Jesus.

When the King is with His army, the armies of heaven are also with Him. Therefore, wherever Christ is, the armies of God are present, and we are also together with them.

The Bible teaches us how we should prepare for this battle. In the letter Paul wrote to the Ephesians, he says:
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10)

This verse teaches us that our strength does not come from our own abilities but from God. When we are strong in the Lord, we have a strength that the enemy cannot overcome.

That is why Paul urges us to put on the full armor of God, saying:
“Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of Satan.” (Ephesians 6:11)

Satan uses many tricks and strategies to defeat people. If a person does not have the armor of God, they can easily fall into the enemy’s traps. But when we wear that armor, we are able to stand firm without being defeated.

The main reason is that the battle we fight is not against human beings. Paul explains it clearly when he says:

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against rulers, against authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6:12)

This verse shows that many problems we see among people actually have spiritual origins. A person may harm you, but often they are being used as a tool by forces of darkness. That is why we should not fight against people, but rather against the evil spirits influencing them.

Because of this, Paul continues by saying: “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.” (Ephesians 6:13)

There are evil days that may come into a person’s life. At such times, what is needed is not necessarily great education or wealth, but the power of the Spirit of God. The armor of God enables a person to remain strong and stand firm.

Among these weapons is the gospel. Paul says: “Put on the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace as shoes.” (Ephesians 6:15)

This means that everyone who speaks about Christ is an evangelist. Whether someone is a teacher, a mechanic, or a businessperson, they can share the good news wherever they are. When the gospel spreads, it becomes a powerful way to overcome the forces of darkness.

Another powerful weapon in spiritual warfare is faith. Paul says: “Above all, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” (Ephesians 6:16)

Satan constantly shoots arrows at people with the intention of discouraging and defeating them. But faith is a shield that can extinguish all those arrows. When a person has strong faith, they cannot easily be defeated by trials.

In addition, a child of God must receive salvation as a helmet that protects them. Paul says:
“Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.” (Ephesians 6:17)

Salvation is the identity of a person who belongs to God. When someone receives Jesus Christ, they receive a new life that protects them in spiritual battles. The Word of God is also the sword used to fight against the enemy’s forces.

Finally, the last and most powerful weapon is prayer. Paul concludes by saying:
“Pray in the Spirit at all times with all kinds of prayers and supplications. Be alert and always keep praying for all the saints.” (Ephesians 6:18)

Praying in the Spirit helps a child of God remain alert in spiritual warfare. When we pray, we call upon the power of God to help us defeat the enemy.

In concluding his teaching, Pastor Christian Gisanura said that the covenant of spiritual warfare soldiers is a covenant of fighting and overcoming. A child of God is not destined to be defeated, but to stand firm and to conquer.

When we put on the armor of God, have faith, proclaim the gospel, and continue praying in the Spirit, we can overcome all the forces of darkness.

In this way, we live as soldiers of the King of battles, Christ Jesus, who has the armies of heaven always standing with those who believe in Him.
