Rwandan gospel singer Ishimwe Vestine has reportedly sought a permanent divorce from her husband, Idrissa Jean Luc Ouédraogo, after allegedly discovering that he had been involved with two other women and had fathered children with them while they were still married.

According to a statement attributed to Vestine and shared on social media on September 14, 2026, the singer said she decided to seek a legally recognized separation after obtaining information and evidence that Idrissa had been in relationships with two other women and had impregnated them.

Vestine reportedly said that she did not want to identify the women involved, but maintained that she had evidence supporting what she had discovered.

The allegations point to infidelity as the main reason behind Vestine’s decision to seek divorce. Her statement reportedly described the situation as something she had not expected when she entered the marriage and suggested that the discovery of other relationships and pregnancies led her to take legal action.

Vestine also reportedly made it clear that her request was not motivated by a desire to obtain property from the marriage. She said she did not want anything to be divided between them, indicating that her priority was to legally end the marriage rather than pursue a share of their possessions.

The allegations come after months of public attention surrounding the couple’s relationship. Vestine and Idrissa had previously presented their marriage publicly as a new chapter in their lives.

They first married in a civil ceremony on January 15, 2025, in Kinyinya Sector, Gasabo District, Kigali, and later held their church wedding on July 5, 2025, at Intare Conference Arena.

The situation had already attracted attention in November 2025 when Vestine published an emotional message saying that the life she was living was not the life she had chosen.

She also warned her music partner Dorcas against marrying at a young age, referring to her own experience and saying that she had made choices she regretted. However, that earlier message did not establish that Idrissa had physically assaulted her, and it should not be interpreted as proof of such an allegation.

Vestine’s latest claims about Idrissa’s alleged relationships and pregnancies remain allegations in an ongoing legal dispute. There has not yet been a final court judgment establishing the claims as facts.

The divorce proceedings will therefore determine the legal outcome of the dispute and the circumstances surrounding the couple’s separation.
