Vestine and Dorcas release ‘Ibihe’ as Vestine goes through divorce proceedings

Gospel singers Vestine and Dorcas have released a new worship song titled “Ibihe” at a difficult time in Vestine’s personal life, as she goes through legal proceedings seeking a permanent divorce from her husband, Idrissa Jean Luc Ouédraogo.

The song comes as Vestine’s marriage has entered a legal dispute, with the lyrics reflecting on hardship, burdens, God’s intervention and the hope of receiving help from Him.

Vestine and Idrissa got married in 2025, with their wedding taking place on July 5, 2025. By November 2025, Vestine had begun publicly hinting that she was going through difficulties in her marriage. On September 14, 2026, she confirmed that she had begun legal proceedings to end the marriage.

In comments reported by local media, Vestine said she had obtained information and evidence that Idrissa had sexual relationships with two other young women and had impregnated them.

She described these allegations as the reason she decided to seek a legal separation. Idrissa has denied the allegations, stating in a court submission that the incidents described by Vestine did not happen.

The divorce proceedings were formally before the Kicukiro Primary Court on September 14, 2026, when a preparatory hearing was held. Both Vestine and Idrissa were represented by lawyers. The divorce case remains a legal proceeding, meaning the allegations made by either side should not be treated as findings of the court.

The dispute took another turn on September 17, 2026, when Idrissa filed a separate case at the Kicukiro Primary Court concerning a child he says he fathered with Vestine. He asked the court to order Vestine to allow him to see the child and requested a DNA test to establish whether he is the child’s biological father.

Idrissa said he had not seen the child since birth despite repeatedly asking to do so, and expressed concern that a permanent divorce could make contact more difficult, particularly because Vestine lives abroad.

Against this backdrop, “Ibihe” carries lyrics that speak directly about difficult seasons, burdens and divine intervention. Vestine and Dorcas repeatedly sing about God removing burdens, changing circumstances, strengthening the heart and protecting someone in times of hardship.

The song declares, “Ya mitwaro urayimuye” (“You have removed those burdens”) and “Yesu sinzi uko uhinduye ibihe” (“Jesus, I do not know how You have changed the times”).

The lyrics therefore present a message of faith in which the singer looks back on a difficult period and describes God as the one who brought relief, comfort and renewed hope.

In this context, the song can be read as a particularly personal expression of faith from Vestine during a period in which her marriage is being contested in court.

Rather than focusing only on the circumstances surrounding the divorce, its lyrics turn repeatedly toward God, portraying the change from hardship to comfort as an intervention she attributes to Him.
