Chorale de Kigali is preparing its annual Christmas Carols Concert, which will take place on December 20, 2026, at Camp Kigali, in a special celebration of the choir’s 60th anniversary
Founded in 1966, Chorale de Kigali has spent six decades promoting Catholic choral music and using music as part of its Christian ministry. The choir was initially made up of men, before women were admitted in 1987.
This year’s concert will also celebrate 13 years of the Christmas Carols Concert tradition. The choir plans to perform some of the songs that have become popular with its audience over the years, while giving fans an opportunity to help choose some of the songs they would like to hear.
Its well-known repertoire includes “Hakuna Mungu kama wewe,” “Singizwa Nyagasani,” “Niringiye Wowe,” “Tungamira,” “Everything (Amen),” “Mary’s Boy Child,” and “Ab’ijuru baririmba,” among others.
The anniversary concert will therefore combine Christmas celebrations with a look back at Chorale de Kigali’s six-decade musical journey. Ticket details are expected to be announced later.
